Malyugin Ring Insertion and Removal

This video reviews how to effectively and efficiently insert and remove a Malyugin ring. Malyugin rings are particularly helpful in cases of small pupils and/or IFIS. This particular patient was on Flomax and I noted significant IFIS with his first surgery in the contralateral eye (no Malyugin ring used on it) that resulted in some iris prolapse despite an adequate pupil size. With this surgery I elected for a Malyugin ring to prevent iris prolapse, enlarge the pupil and preserve the iris sphincter function. The ring worked beautifully and his iris post-operatively was cosmetically and functionally perfect.
