A small custom 5x7 Dot matrix display that I designed some time ago. It uses 35x 0402 SMD LEDs, which are controlled by a TM1652 LED driver IC. The displays can be controlled using a single data pin using UART. When multiple displays are used together, the enable pin can be used to select which display(s) should receive the incoming data. Out of curiosity, I challenged myself to make the design as inexpensive as possible by using the cheapest components I could find. The total parts cost ended up being a bit below €0.50! The boards were also panelized to save on cost. ...I also cheaped out on the assembly, so I had to solder them all by hand using regular soldering tin, a soldering iron and a hot air station. I might revisit this project again in the future, might come in handy for another project I have in mind!
