The journey to Kawah Ijen was far from perfect, rain poured, fog covered the sky, and the trail felt endless in the dark. But sometimes, that’s how nature teaches us patience. With a lovely couple from the Netherlands, we climbed through the mist at 2 a.m., guided only by headlamps and hope. And then, the reward appeared, the surreal blue fire dancing in the crater, the miners carrying heavy sulfur with quiet strength, and later… a rainbow breaking through the clouds. Every drop of rain turned into gratitude. Every challenge found its beauty.
