Uisa He Me‘a Mamahi - Koula ‘oe Anomasima Aloha gang! Here’s another #AlohaFridayAmJayzWithLina cover! I mentioned in my other posts of wanting to do more covers of different genres and languages, particularly more Polynesian music. Many of you know me from my career in Hawaiian Music and R&B music. Aside from my bias to Hawaiian music, my passion for it and my identity as kanaka, no offense to any other of our Poly and Pacific cultures but Tongan music is my favorite 😍♥️ While I am not Tongan by blood, I have friends and family who are. Even it is not of my own, I love and appreciate Tongan culture, don’t even get me started on the food, and their music. I love the melodies of Tongan music, the inherent choral sound, and the use of stacked up harmonies. I’ve saved many a “faikava playlists” on YouTube and my faves are this group of brothers I believe called Koula ‘oe Anomasima, and this has been one of my favorite songs they’ve done. Like I said, I’m not Tongan and don’t speak the language, but I hope that my heart and admiration comes thru in my cover.
