A comparison of five different middle-tier accessible & affordable hollowbody/semi-hollowbody electric guitars: 1. Epiphone ES-339 Pro 2. Epiphone Alleykat 3. Epiphone Casino 4. Fender Coronado II 5. Fender Starcaster For each guitar, I play the same simple example through every pickup position both clean and overdriven through a Fender Blues Jr. amp with a Wampler Paisley as the overdrive, when applied. In the case of the ES-339, I also run the demonstration with the coil split engaged. At the end, I give a few final thoughts and deliver my own personal ranking. These guitars were comapred because I happen to own them, and there are obviously a lot of other fine choices out there, but hopefully if you're curious about one or more of these, this can give you some sense of how they sound.
