The embargo itself has been one of the most influential aspects in molding today's cigar industry - especially on the American side. Were it not for the embargo, would we have all of the Dominican, Nicaraguan and Honduran brands we have today? If not for the embargo making Cuban cigars illegal in the U.S., would they still have acquired the "legendary status," granted to them by so many enthusiasts? Would they be coveted as they are?
