God's grace, which is receiving something one does not deserve, is seen at every turn in the story of Ruth and is still relevant in our lives today. Main Ideas: Grace is a fundamental concept in Christianity, which means receiving something you do not deserve or receiving favor. God's grace saturates the Old Testament, seen in His saving kindness and covenantal patience, from Adam and Eve to Israel's rescue from Egypt. Ruth's "happenstance" arrival in Boaz's field reveals God's providential grace at work, which does not preclude Ruth from doing her part. Boaz is an Old Testament Christ figure, demonstrating God's grace by providing protection, generosity, and kindness toward Ruth.
