The village of Kalashra, located in northern Lebanon on the Syrian border, is only 150 kilometers from the Turkish border. All the people living in this village are Turkish. After the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, there are few Turkish speakers in the village, which remained within the borders of Lebanon. During the Lebanese Civil War, the chance encounter of the then Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon with a Lebanese soldier (Uncle Halit), led to the recognition of the Turks (Turkmen) living in Lebanon. I had the opportunity to meet Uncle Halit, who introduced us to the Turks in Lebanon, and I heard this story from his mouth. Everyone I met in the village stated many times that the Turks who come here are never guests, they come to their homes. They visited the village with me and helped me shoot this video and tell their stories. Thanks to them, I had the chance to tell you about the existence of Turks/Turkmen living in Lebanon and in which regions they live. In this video, you can find parts of the Lebanese civil war, the economic crisis, the lack of electricity in the village, the clean drinking water, the Turks visiting the village, the projects made in the village, and most importantly the story of the Lebanese Turks. I tried to make a video as much as I could in the limited time.
