In 1992, an up-and-coming grade crossing equipment manufacturer began prototyping an electronic bell design. They are generally agreed to have been the first company to do so. Very few of the installed prototype bells remain today, but around 1997, the General Signals Type 1 electronic bell was born. This is not an official name, rather, railfans have dubbed it that for simplicity. The bell was produced until 2003 when the Type 2 was released, featuring some minor design changes. Today, many of these bells have been replaced, so the decreasing amount of them around are becoming a treat to see. Many railroads used them, including BNSF, UP, CSX, NS, KCS, and CN, along with many other regional and shortline railroads. ✭✭✭ Visit my other media platforms here! https://linktr.ee/The_Central_Texas_R... ✭✭✭ Music (if in the video) is from https://www.freesoundmusic.eu/ / freesoundmusic
