AUTUMN 🍂 2024 In this video, we will be starting our tour from the Pynnikki observation tower ( MUNKKI) to bring you a view of the entire landscape of Tampere from above. 🌎🌳 Pyynikki is a district and a nature reserve in Tampere, Finland. It is located in the Pyynikinharju ridge, between the city center and the western district of Pispala, which offers views of Lake Pyhäjärvi . Pyynikinharju is the highest gravel ridge in the world , rising to 162 meters above sea level and 85 meters above Pyhäjärvi. Harju was selected as a nationally valuable landscape attraction in 1993. To the south of Pyynikinharju is the Pyynik summer theater , Rosendahl hotel , tennis courts and a beach , which is divided into two separate sandy beaches. The 25-meter-high Pyynik observation tower is located on the ridge , where, according to many locals, the best donuts in Tampere are baked, and the Pyynik sports field built in the 1920s in the Pyynikinrinte district north of the ridge . A short distance southwest of the lookout tower, there was a singing stage that was lost in the 1980s and was built for collective singing parties. Some of the grandstand structures and a "performance stage" still remain from it, which although today reminds me of a ball field. Suomen Trikoo, which at its peak employed more than 3,700 employees, operated on the shore of Pyynik from 1903 to 1996, and Varala's sports college is still located near the ridge .
