Downtown St. George and Water Streets are the reputed bar and brothel locations for the city of St. John’s. While the sordid and sketchy labels have faded over time, the bar and pub scene still flourishes. While seafood reigns throughout the rest of Newfoundland, a wide variety of cuisines dominate this city. Pippy Park Campground lies just outside of St. John’s within a quiet public park yet minutes from the city and the TCH. When in this city, we wanted a quiet, shaded campground with full hookups. Pippy is the place to go after a day in and around the Provincial capital. For Fort Amherst a small parking area is provided for visitors near the fort. Traffic farther on towards the fort is restricted to private homes. The lighthouse keeper residence is next to the lighthouse and the keeper is glad to tell the history of the site.
