It has been painful, almost impossible, to express what we’re going through with the current distress of the world and state of our island home. But the risk of not opening up is far greater than expressing our need for help. Uila and I are facing a heart-wrenching dilemma and our farm is now in jeopardy. I received a demand letter from my aunt in June, insisting on the repayment of the down payment she provided to help us acquire the property, along with 10 years of interest. Desperate to keep the farm, we worked tirelessly to secure private financing with an investor. We believed we had saved the farm, and even found a business coach to take the farm shop to the next level. However, our hopes were crushed when the investor suddenly had a change of heart, instead wanting the whole farm and business for themselves; leaving us with shattered dreams. We have invested every ounce of energy and our resources we have into the farm and are going to be forced to sell to meet my aunt's demand. We also now face the daunting task of finding a new home for our family, the farm business, and rehoming our hundreds of farm animals in a market where owning, renting or even leasing another farm seems impossible. We have a piece of roadside property that we wanted to long term lease or separate and sell. It is a .81 acre property with ocean/mountain views and its own entrance off hana highway with water/electric access on site. We are also open to farm shop partnership options, this farm is meant to be shared. We humbly ask if you or someone you might know who resonates with our story to please share. We aren’t giving up easily, this life here is one worth fighting for.
