2025 marked 10 years of research, innovation, and collaboration at iCRAG, the Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences. Held in February 2025, the iCRAG@10 conference highlighted current research taking place in the Centre and reflected on the evolution and impact of iCRAG’s research programme. Across a series of talks and panel discussions, the conference also explored opportunities for future applied research topics to shape a sustainable society. In this session, "iCRAG@10: Closing Remarks", attendees heard from iCRAG Director, Prof. Murray Hitzman. -- iCRAG is the Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences hosted by University College Dublin. We are a team of researchers creating solutions for a sustainable society. We develop innovative science and technologies to better understand the Earth’s past, present, and future and how people are connected to it. We drive research in areas that are critical to society and the economy, including: Sustainable discovery of energy resources and raw materials required for decarbonisation. Securing and protecting groundwater and marine resources. Protecting society from Earth’s hazards such as flooding and landslides. The iCRAG Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences hosted by UCD, comprises 150 researchers across ten universities and institutions. iCRAG is funded by Research Ireland, Geological Survey Ireland and industry partners.
