70000 “Britannia” takes charge of “The Golden Arrow” to Canterbury West! | 14/05/25

Today would see 70000 “Britannia” haul “The Golden Arrow” once again for the last time until September! I began at Ravensbourne where Brit is seen slowly arriving into the station to make an unexpected stop mean I could quickly catch it departing. I was supposed to see it once again on the outward at Wye however the tour running 18L meant this was no longer possible. The loco is then caught in the sidings at Canterbury filling up with coal and water, ready to take the tour back as far as Southall. For the return journey, I firstly headed to Sturry crossing where the loco was seen being assisted by 47593 on the rear and doing minimal work compared to usual, at a guess due to the fire risk. I then made it to Ashford where it’s seen slowly departing, hot on the tail of a passenger service. I finally saw it at Sevenoaks as it turned off onto the Bat & Ball line! #steamtrain #heritage #railtour #70000britannia #goldenarrow
