A Day Trip to Colmar: The Fairytale Town I Couldn’t Skip

I dreamed of visiting Colmar for its famous Christmas markets for many years, but the timing never worked out. This time, while staying in Basel for the very first time, I realized Colmar was less than an hour away — and even though it wasn’t Christmas, I knew I couldn’t skip it. In this vlog, I take a spontaneous day trip from Switzerland to France on a warm, sunny September day. I wander through Colmar’s fairytale old town, see beautiful fountains, the iconic House of Heads, and a stunning church built from local sandstone. I also visit the Bartholdi Museum — the birthplace of the sculptor behind the Statue of Liberty — and learn about his other famous works. Along the way, I explore artisan galleries full of handmade crafts, walk through the lively market hall (which smells unmistakably like strong cheese 😄), and stroll along the canals of Little Venice. I also try local food — an unforgettable tarte flambée with local herbs — which I enjoy in a beautiful square under the sun.
