Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma reiterated on Friday that the assault case at Mahadev Khola in Lower Lawsohtun was neither communal nor religiously motivated. Speaking to reporters, he explained that certain groups of individuals had visited some shops and subsequently caused trouble. He emphasised that it was essential not to jump to conclusions and attribute a communal or religious angle to the incident. While making it abundantly clear that no communal elements were involved, he informed that the authorities had thoroughly investigated the backgrounds of the individuals involved and found no affiliations with any particular organisation. The chief minister further emphasised that the incident was an isolated one, involving a dispute between two specific groups, assuring that appropriate legal action would be taken in accordance with the law.
