Alexa has FHO surgery

Happy Friday everyone! The dog in our video today is Alexa, a government dog that was found in the driveway a couple of weeks ago. Alexa was painfully thin and there was a very obvious problem with her back left leg so she has spent a few weeks being given lots of lovely food and pain relief until the time came for an xray yesterday. The xray showed us that she had a fracture in her femoral head and whilst previously we would have had no choice but to amputate the leg to get her out of pain, we are now in a position where because of YOU we have xray capability that allowed us to identify the problem carry out FHO surgery rather than amputating an otherwise healthy limb. Alexa is going to face a fairly long rehab period now but the hope is that she will be out of pain and in time she will start to use the leg again and will rebuild the lost muscle.
