Sun Valley: Pedestrian Killed, Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway.

CHP Altadena officers and LAFD paramedics responded to a major traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway at Penrose Avenue just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. A male pedestrian was struck in the freeway lanes and pronounced deceased at the scene. Three vehicles were involved in the resulting wreckage, leading to the hospitalization of five additional people, some in critical condition. Authorities closed all southbound lanes for several hours as investigators processed the scene and waited for the L.A. County Coroner. It remained unclear why the pedestrian was walking on the freeway. The lanes were expected to remain closed until early Wednesday morning. ⚠️ Viewer discretion advised.
