It doesn't feel real, but my first first-author paper has been published in the journal Evolution! It's all about the genetics and evolution of the stunning columbine flower - how did they evolve so many shapes and sizes and colors in such a short amount of time, and what is the genetic basis of all that diversity? Here is the paper! http://doi.org/10.1111/evo.14313 (If you can't access it, let me know and I can send you a pdf :) This project is a HUGE part of my PhD work and is a beautifully collaborative effort - it brought together plant biologists and mathematicians to get to the bottom of these wild and wonderful flower mysteries!
