Our trip to Peru was an unforgettable adventure filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Traveling with my wife, our daughter and her husband, we explored the heart of the Inca Empire, capturing incredible moments along the way, including stunning drone footage of Cusco and the Sacred Valley. We began our journey in Cusco, a city rich in history and charm. Walking through Plaza de Armas, we admired The Cathedral and explored the fascinating ruins of Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun, once covered in gold. We visited the nearby archaeological sites of Tambomachay (Temple of the Water), Qenqo, and Sacsayhuaman, where the massive stone walls left us in awe of Inca engineering. Next, we ventured into the Sacred Valley, stopping in Chinchero, known for its archaeological center and vibrant textile markets, where we witnessed traditional Andean weaving. At Moray, we marveled at the enormous circular terraces, an ancient Incan agricultural experiment. One of the most fascinating stops was the Salineras de Maras, a breathtaking collection of thousands of salt pools cascading down the mountainside. Remarkably, these salt mines, dating back to Inca times, are still actively used by local families today. We also explored Maras, a picturesque Spanish colonial town, before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba. Along the way, we spotted the Skylodge Adventure Suites, a set of glass lodges dramatically perched on the side of a cliff, offering adventurous travelers a unique overnight stay with stunning views of the Sacred Valley. In Ollantaytambo, one of the most well-preserved Inca towns, we walked its narrow stone streets before visiting the ruins, where massive terraces and the Temple of the Sun showcased the brilliance of Inca engineering. After exploring, we boarded the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to the highlight of our trip—Machu Picchu. Seeing the legendary Lost City of the Incas in person was an experience beyond words. The breathtaking ruins, surrounded by misty peaks and lush green mountains, made for an unforgettable moment. Peru captivated us with its incredible history, welcoming people, and stunning landscapes. This journey was not just a trip—it was a deep dive into a civilization that continues to inspire and thrive today.
