I didn't really plan to make a video. This is basically just a bunch of clips a photos strung together. I started my hike in March 16th at the Mexico border reaching the Grand Canyon south rim on April 24th. After 700 miles and a big 40 mile day following a 30 mile day, I developed tendonitis in my an-tib. I rested at the south rim for the maximum allowed 6 days in the campground hoping it would resolve but it didn’t. Risking a tendon rupture going into the canyon I decided to leave trail and return to finish in the fall. It was crushing to be so close and have to make that decision. While “off trail” waiting to return I did an 80 mile trek across the Olympic mountains in Washington, and the Timberline trail around Mt Hood. I returned to south rim the AZT on October 3rd and continued NOBO finishing on October 7th. When I left in the spring there was 6 inches of snow on the north rim, when I returned in October it was nearly 100* in the canyon bottom as the low temp overnight. I was bummed that I didn’t get to finish with everyone I met in the spring, but I was happy not doing a 30-40 mile road walk in the snow, and getting to see the trail in the fall. I know this video sucks, there’s better ones to watch, the pans are too fast and I offer no commentary as I didn’t film anything with any intention of making anything- other than just collecting what the trail looked like as I went along for my own memory. I just put this up for some friends and family.
