Today we are sharing with you our day in the life of homeschooling! Katie is constantly looking for ways to navigate homeschooling intentionally, while still having a lot of little children in the home. Setting up systems is so important, so when we add the complexity of another baby, our systems are able to support that kind of distraction/addition of a lot going on. In every form of education there’s going to be some kind of gap. Our job as parents, we feel like, is not to make sure that our kids know every single thing on every subject. That’s impossible, but rather that they know how to learn and that they have character qualities that are instilled in them so that they have the fortitude to learn. Elisha plays a small role in the practical application of the schooling, but plays a big role in facilitating Katie and giving her an environment and space to apply this education in their home. Elisha and Katie are constantly in communication. If Katie reads a book on homeschooling or philosophy of education, she brings it to him to talk about if it fits their family style or not. They are very much a team in this, just like everything else, regardless of who is actually doing the work of homeschooling the children. It takes both people being on board.
