Experience a rare winter phenomenon in Berlin: A complete walking tour across the frozen Müggelsee. Filmed in stunning 4K HDR during the golden hour on February 3, 2026. ❄️ The Experience: Witness the largest lake in Berlin transform into a solid block of ice. With temperatures feeling like -12°C, we walk from Müggelpark directly onto the frozen surface, passing ice skaters, wind-surfers, and the surreal sight of a ferry locked in ice. The wind-swept snow creates a hypnotic "ice desert" effect that you have to see to believe. Today, however, Müggelsee has transformed into an enormous winter playground. The atmosphere was surreal. Birds were chirping in the park behind me, while in the distance, the lake came alive with people ice skating, skiing, and even combining windsurfing with skating. The DLRG water rescue tower, usually standing isolated in the water and accessible only by a ramp, was now easily approachable on foot from any direction. The Golden Hour & The Wind As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow over the ice, I moved towards the tower. The water underneath the ramp was frozen solid. A strong gust of wind swept across the slippery surface, piling up snow and blowing it away like sand in a desert. The movement of the snow was hypnotic—perhaps the highlight of the entire experience. Walking on the Deep Ice Stepping onto the main surface, the ice felt solid, likely 20-40cm thick. I could see frozen bubbles trapped deep within the layers. As I walked further from the dock, the sounds of the city faded, replaced by the soothing roar of the wind and the satisfying crunch of icy dust under my boots. Despite the thermometer reading -4°C, it felt closer to -12°C. My hands went numb within seconds every time I removed my gloves to capture a photo. The Frozen Ferry Returning to the deck area after about 15 minutes, I approached a permanently docked ferry, the "Eventschiff." Seeing it from this angle was unique—standing on the water, nose-to-nose with the massive machine. The wind had carved a masterpiece of snow piles against the ferry's hull. As the bright yellow sunshine faded into a crimson red, I realized the excitement had kept me out on the ice far longer than planned. It was a freezing, yet unforgettable afternoon on Berlin's largest lake. #Berlin #FrozenLake #Müggelsee #WinterVlog #4KHDR #WalkingTour #Germany #IceSkating #GoldenHour #Berlin2026
