L：Morning guys, this is Leona. L: Blair，这马上换季了，你是更喜欢在直播间买东西还是自己逛街买啊？ B: Absolutely prefer livestream shopping—much more convenient and can have more discounts. L: True. But recently, Chinese actress Dong Jie joined the livestream e-commerce with many goods costing thousands of yuan per unit in her livestream. 最近董洁的直播不是蛮火的嘛，没有5位数可走不出她的直播间。 B: 那咋还能火呢？ L：也算是一股清流吧，不是那种“一二三，上链接”喊麦式的，more soft and gentle and her audiences are mainly urban women with greater purchasing power. B: She makes livestream shopping breakthrough with soft sell approach. 走的是软推销的路线啊。 L: Yes, nearly every ecommerce website and social media platform has a livestream sector. 现在几乎所有的电商平台甚至社交媒体都开始直播带货了。 B：没错，也有越来越多的人加入到了直播带货的赛道。So, today, let's talk about livestream e-commerce. B: 我们今天的的主题词，livestream e-commerce, livestream就是直播的意思，commerce意思是贸易，前面的e代表的是electronic电子的，所以e-commerce就指的是电子商务。 L: Right, livestream ecommerce is a business model in which retailers, influencers, or celebrities sell products and services via online video streaming. B：网红经济的时代啊，网红可不是internet red而是这里的influencer，有影响力的人，网红的这个意思也是随着互联网的发展而演变出来的，现在越来越多的人开始加入网红的这个行业，In March, my friend was finally able to quit and focus on her career as an influencer full time. L: But not all the livestream can gain traction in this industry, while Dong Jie made it. 也不是所有网红都能获得关注和支持的，董洁也算是通过这次直播带货成功翻红了。 B：True. So traction basicly means the pulling of a heavy load over a surface or the power used in this, traction本意其实有牵引，引力的意思，比如下雪的时候，地比较滑，需要用专用轮胎加大引力，In deep snow, people should use snow tyre ontheir vehicles o give them better traction. L：那也可以用来表达某种观点或者什么事情被大家接受，或者越来越关注。In our digital age , it takes less time for new words and phrases to gain traction than it did in the past. B: So we used to shop online at the shopping website, and now livestream session could take place on an ecommerce website or on a social media platform. L: Right, pretty commonplace.  And the main part of a livestream is a video stream where the host shows products and talks to the audience. 直播最主要的部分当然就是我们看到的主播介绍产品的直播画面。 B：我觉得现在直播很方便的一点是在点进产品界面的时候，这个直播也不会断，可以以画中画的模式一边逛街一边看直播哈哈哈。 L: Yes, I really like the picture-in-picture style—it's really convenient. B: Me, too. So the customers can go to the product-detail page of a promoted product without missing the livestream demonstrations. 画中画也很直接的表达就是picture in picture. L: 或者有些时候主播也会直接把所有的商品展示出来，so we can see a product list, with the current product being highlighted. B: And I would like to request the host to show that product which I'm interested in. L: 我觉得这也是相比网购来说更方便的一点，除了直播还可以“点播”哈哈哈。So the livestream also has an on-demand component. 点播可以用on-demand，其实就是按照你的需求。 B: 嗯， demand本意是需求，要求嘛，on demand就是按需，可以理解为点播。 L：on demand本身是一个词组，一般作状语，for example, I need to feed the baby on demand. 小婴儿一哭就是有吃饭的需求了。 B：那在这两个词中间加上连字符，就变成形容词可以作定语，比如现在很多课程也是有直播或者也可以点播，You can also join a livestream or on-demand exercise class. L: 其实虽然是网络上，但我觉得现在直播带货的互动性还是非常生动的。The interactivity makes livestreaming a highly efficient way to learn about products and get questions answered at the same time.  B: Right, we can send our questions or comments in the chat area. 有什么问题就直接在聊天区问就好啦，主播也基本上会即时回答，It's just like walking into a brick-and-mortar store and the host may greet you, ask which products you want to see, and even provide recommendations. 跟实体店的沟通交流也大同小异。 L：哇，感觉好久没去过实体店了，brick-and-mortar 意思是实体的，brick意思是砖头，mortar是水泥砂浆，一砖一瓦盖起来的那就是实体的了。 B：嗯，现在网店对实体经济的打击确实是比较大，Online retailers try to lure customers  away from their brick-and-mortar competitors. L: 但现在很多不管是实体店还是网店其实都在加入到直播的行列中来啦，你没发现嘛，手机的各种购物软件产品的旁边都会附加上直播讲解的视频。 B: Exactly, everytime I searched for something, the livestream session were also shown on the product-listing page. L: The retailars are really considerate. hhhh. But, for custmers, they can smoothly watch the livestream session, take a glance at the products, and get out if they want to. B: 嗯，快节奏时代嘛，购物也很快速，take a glance，看一下基本上有喜欢的再去详细了解就好了。So take a glance means to to give a quick and short look. 基本上就是瞥一眼过去。 L：嗯，让我想起了以前上学班主任门口一站，瞥一眼就知道谁又在捣乱了，She took a quick glance around the classroom. B: 以前上学看书一目十行，现在手机购物一眼刷好几件商品哈哈哈，那我们平常总说刷手机，这个刷可不是brush, 可以用swipe. Viewers can swipe up to see a different livestream session. L: Right, and people use the same gesture to browse through short videos, 刷视频也是一样的姿势啊哈哈，可以说they swipe up to discover a new short video. B: 诶，那我如果刷着刷着觉得这个直播看着不错，我点进去看一会儿吧，我们可以说I tapped the livestream video and watched for a while.  L: Livestream really enriched our lifestyles and give someone opportunaties to show themselves. 直播是当下的热潮，也真的更方便了我们的生活，但提醒大家剁手需谨慎。 B：诶，不要冲动消费，很容易被“一二三，上链接”的紧迫感刺激到啊哈哈哈。
