There it is, the final one.... the closing of the year means the closing of this project, Op de Koffie has come an end. It was a a year of encounters , of reconnecting with old friends, of playing music, both beautiful and interesting, of doing things I didn't know myself capable of, of deadlines and self discipline, but mainly of love, lots of love. For the final episode I invited my dearest singer/composer Astrid Creve and guitarist Marijke Hellemans. They are good friends with whom I played intensely for a couple of years in Astrids beautiful band Alfredo (Solomototekanos). I always felt a natural connection to Astrid and her music, as if both came from a foreign place I have known in an undefined, far away, but vaguely accessible past. Utterly personal, her voice and her music, telling tales that connect here and that far away place. Marijke has always enchanted me very subtly. Almost unnoticeably, she makes everything more beautiful and profound. Adding exactly that layer of warmth and gentle gentle spark that intelligently lifts the music to another level. What a joy to play again with these talented ladies. While I had done all audio and video recording and post production myself for 20 episodes, this time I was very generously and skilfully helped by Shalan Alhamwy for filming, Martijn Veulemans for sound recording and Farah Kassem for video editing. Gratitude for those beautiful people and their talent. We played an old Alfredo song that never really got finished and now was given the title Manual for Peace and Quiet. Next come two songs Astrid wrote for her solo project Arra di Allas: 3 Years of Hunger and Wet Wood. As always, I wish to remind you that bass is the fundament of music and that you need decent speakers or headphones to hear the good stuff that happens in that spectrum. I hope you enjoy this last episode and the one that came before. They stay available, until eternity, if I'm concerned, so you can always go back to them. It has been a very nurturing year, and that is largely due to the very loving response to these little moments I have been sharing. That fills me with gratitude. 00:00 intro 01:08 Manual for Peace and 05:56 3 Years of Hunger 09:29 Wet Wood
