Brixham is one of those seaside towns in Devon where the sea is everywhere – in the air, in the smell of salt and fish, in the way the streets twist down towards the harbour. The harbour itself has always been the heart of the town. For centuries fishermen have sailed out from here, and even today you can still see the traditional red-sailed trawlers, almost unchanged since the 19th century. But Brixham also has its place in the big story of England. In 1688, this was where William of Orange landed with his army, beginning the “Glorious Revolution.” Imagine the scene: hundreds of sails on the horizon, villagers rushing up to the cliffs to watch, wondering what fate was about to arrive on their shores. Today there’s a statue by the waterfront that marks the spot. The town has its share of legends too. The coves and hidden inlets around the bay were once the perfect hideouts for pirates and smugglers. Old tales say that some of those sailors never quite left – their ghosts still wander the quay at night, looking for the ships they lost. Walking through Brixham, you feel its character everywhere. The houses crowd together on the hillsides, as if bracing themselves against the wind. The streets are narrow and steep, spilling down towards the harbour where the boats lie at rest. It’s a place that doesn’t pretend to be anything else – a little rough, a little nostalgic, but full of soul. brixham, devon, england, torbay, drone footage, aerial view, cinematic drone, coastal town, fishing village, uk travel, drone video uk, seaside england, harbour view, drone 4k, travel vlog, explore devon, british coast, drone journey, landscape uk, hidden gems england #flywithmeuk
