Day 223km. 58km (58527kms) At least by having to turn back to Dalyan I could enjoy one last ride along the river before finally heading out of town. But I’d left it late again; the sun is setting a little after 6pm these days and I’m not good and getting going early so the days - while still warm - are very short. I was treated to a bike lane for the first 10kms before joining the highway on its steady climb. With a full lane-width shoulder and good surface it was plain sailing. Half way up a toll tunnel took much of the traffic straight through the mountain while my fellow cheapskates and I continued up and over. It must be the weekend because I received a cheery wave from a solitary MAMIL as he passed me on the way up (and again on his way back down). After grabbing the quickest of lunches (ayran and a cake) by the water in Göcek I proceeded to climb three smaller and gentler hills before turning through a small wood to the beach. Here on the edge of the outer outskirts of Fethiye the first of the fancy all inclusive resorts provides access to the beach, but by rounding the bay the view is all islands and sunsets. Again, a sign seemed to prohibit beach entry between 8pm and 8am, but unlike at Dalyan there were no marked off turtle nesting zones. Instead I found a Turkish couple with a 4x4 & rooftop tent. For the first time this year it’s cool enough to close the tent flaps overnight. I slept soundly guarded by a couple of dogs I took to be belonging to the campers. https://www.patreon.com/helsonwheels?... #turkey #travel #camping
