Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra and Start of Trek Weather: September in Manali typically has clear skies and moderate temperatures, but it can start getting cooler as you ascend. Trekking Conditions: From Jobra, the trek begins with a gradual ascent, passing through forests and meadows. Expect lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers. The weather is usually pleasant with mild temperatures, but rain showers can occur. Landscape: The terrain is mostly forested, with pine and oak trees lining the route. You'll pass through alpine meadows with beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. Day 2: Jobra to Chika Weather: The weather is generally stable, but you may encounter some light showers in the late afternoon, typical of September in the region. Trekking Conditions: This day involves a moderate ascent through the forest and river crossings. The trail begins to open up into a wide valley as you approach Chika. Landscape: You'll be surrounded by lush green meadows, and the rivers might be swollen from rainfall. The landscape feels refreshing, and the cooler temperatures in the evening make it ideal for camping. Day 3: Chika to Balu ka Ghera Weather: Temperatures will be cooler, especially as you get higher in elevation. You might experience scattered rain in the afternoon, with cloudy skies in the morning. Trekking Conditions: The trek becomes steeper as you gain elevation. The trail takes you through rocky sections and boulder-strewn paths. The weather can be unpredictable, and it could get windy as you approach higher altitudes. Landscape: The terrain transitions to alpine meadows, and the surrounding views of the snow-capped peaks start to emerge more clearly. The camp at Balu ka Ghera is situated in a beautiful valley with streams and meadows. Day 4: Balu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass and to Shea Goru Weather: The weather in September can be quite changeable, with clear skies in the morning turning into rain or light snow as you near the pass. Expect colder temperatures and winds at higher altitudes. Trekking Conditions: This is the most challenging day as you ascend to the pass at 4,270 meters. The climb can be strenuous due to the altitude, and the weather can be harsh with potential snow or rain. After crossing the pass, you'll descend to Shea Goru, which is a long and tiring journey. Landscape: From the pass, you’ll get panoramic views of the Spiti Valley and surrounding mountains. The descent to Shea Goru takes you through rugged terrain, barren landscapes, and rocky paths that feel quite different from the lush green meadows below. Day 5: Shea Goru to Chhatru Weather: Temperatures will be colder during the morning, but as you descend, the weather starts warming up. Rain is still a possibility in the afternoons. Trekking Conditions: The final descent is easier compared to the earlier days, though still rocky in places. The route follows the Chandra River, and the trail leads through more barren landscapes as you approach Chhatru. Landscape: The scenery is stark and alpine, with a rugged, barren beauty. You’ll pass small streams and cross bridges. As you near Chhatru, the terrain becomes more arid, resembling the Spiti Valley landscape. Day 6: Chhatru to Manali Weather: The day usually begins clear, but expect some clouds and the possibility of light rain as you reach the lower altitudes. Trekking Conditions: From Chhatru, you'll descend to the roadhead at Chota Dara and then drive back to Manali. It’s a relaxing end to the trek, and the weather here is warmer compared to the higher altitudes. . 00:00 - Introduction 00:51 - Day 1 manali to Jobri 01:31 - Jobri to Chika 05:25 - Chika Campsite 06:56 - Day 2 09:46 - river crossing 12:02 - Ballu ka ghera campsite 12:19 - Day 3 16:18 - Hampta pass 18:58 - Seha Goru campsite 19:55 - Last Day Raftaar Adventures is a trusted mountain-based hiking organization offering incredible trekking experiences.
