LEGENDARY MATCH | THAILAND vs JAPAN | Women's VNL 2023. Japan Women's National Team defeats Thailand in straight sets to advance to the final round VNL 2023! The third match (11th match of the preliminary round) of the Volleyball Nations League 2023 Thailand tournament was held in Bangkok, Thailand on the 1st, Japan time, with the Japanese women's national team facing the host country, Thailand. They won in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-20), bringing their record to 7 wins and 4 losses. Japan's starting members are Kotona Hayashi, Sarina Koga (captain), Mayu Ishikawa, Nanami Seki, Nichika Yamada, Sayaka Araki, and libero Yanami Nishimura. On the other hand, Thailand's opposite player Phimpichaya, middle diagonal player Tatdao and Hattaya, and many of their starters are players with experience playing in the Japanese V-League as Asian-slot foreign players. In the first set, Yamada took the lead early on. Koga and Hayashi's attacks, along with Seki's service ace, led to consecutive points, and the lead was extended to 11-5. He was replaced by Mai Irisawa, who served an ace to make it 16-13. However, Thailand continued to score points after that, and an attack from Pimpichaya brought the score to 17-17. After this, Japan extended their lead again to 20-17 with Yamada's broad and block. In the final stages, Japan's challenge against the opponent's floor touch was successful, making it 23-20. Finally, Ishikawa scored from a difficult position to win the rally and take the set 25-22. In the third set, the score was tied at 8-8, but Hayashi played calmly and scored consecutive points to make it 10-8. Koga scored to make it 16-13.
