Pakistan have been superb in most of the phases to have already taken an insurmountable 2-0 lead in this three-match ODI series. The two teams will now take the field for the third and final ODI at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday (November 16). A Wanindu Hasaranga special with both bat and ball nearly pulled off the heist for the Lankan Lions in a high-scoring thriller, but Salman Ali Agha's sensational century and Hussain Talat's cracking half-century, followed by Haris Rauf's fiery spell, ensured that the Men in Green went ahead in the series with a narrow six-run win in the series opener on Tuesday. The second ODI was initially scheduled for Thursday, but for various reasons it was postponed to Friday, with the final ODI pushed to the last day of the weekend. Pakistan's ODI skipper, Shaheen Shah Afridi, missed the last game due to illness. In his absence, Salman Ali Agha led the side really well. If Shaheen is fit, he will lead the side. Pakistan chipped away with regular wickets to keep Sri Lanka under 300 on a better surface to bat. The tourists had plenty of batters getting the start, but the hosts didn't allow them to play too long. Janith Liyanage top-scored with a half-century, while Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kamindu Mendis got into the 40s. Hasaranga played another good hand and remained unbeaten in the 30s. All top-order batters got into the double figures, barring skipper Charith Asalanka. If not for Hasaranga's blitz towards the end, Sri Lanka wouldn't have reached 288/8 after that sudden collapse post the rebuilding done by the lower middle order. Abrar Ahmed, who missed the series opener due to an illness, came back and returned with a three-wicket haul. His spell actually derailed the top and middle order. Rauf was excellent again and picked up three wickets. Mohammad Wasim Jnr bowled his heart out and claimed a wicket, too. With dew settling in, Pakistan cruised home in the run chase with eight wickets in hand. Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman set the foundation. The former failed to convert his start to a big one, while Fakhar scored a very good 78. The senior pro was involved in two big partnerships: 77 with Ayub and 100 with Babar Azam.
