In this post, I have described the lifestyle of the people living in the village of Barsoi, Bihar. The people living in this village, which is very backward in terms of employment and education, go to South India to improve their livelihood. Life in a Bihar village is a blend of traditional culture, agriculture, and simple living — with gradual modernization touching some areas. Here’s a detailed picture 👇 Daily Life & Lifestyle Most villagers live in mud or brick houses with thatched or tin roofs. The lifestyle is community-based — people know each other well and help one another during festivals, marriages, and crises. Daily routines begin early (around sunrise). Farmers go to fields; women manage household chores, cooking, and cattle. Electricity and water supply vary — some villages have improved services, others still rely on hand pumps, kerosene lamps, or solar lights. Occupation & Economy Agriculture is the main occupation. Major crops: rice, wheat, maize, pulses, sugarcane. Many families also keep cows, goats, or buffaloes for milk and manure. During non-farming seasons, some villagers migrate to nearby towns or other states for work (construction, labor, etc.). Small businesses like tea stalls, cycle repair shops, tailoring, and grocery shops support local livelihoods. Culture & Traditions Culture is deeply rooted in folk music, festivals, and oral traditions. Popular festivals: Chhath Puja, Holi, Diwali, Eid, Makar Sankranti, Teej, and Durga Puja. Folk songs like Sohar, Bidesia, and Kajri are common at weddings and celebrations. Village fairs (melas) and jatras (folk dramas) bring color and joy to rural life. Education & Modernization Almost every village now has a primary school, but higher education often requires traveling to a nearby town. Government schemes and NGOs are improving literacy, especially for girls. Smartphones and internet connectivity are slowly spreading, especially among youth. Many youngsters aspire to become teachers, policemen, government workers, or migrate to cities for better jobs. Transport & Connectivity Most villages are connected by mud roads or small tar roads; during monsoons, roads can get damaged. Bicycles, motorcycles, tractors, and auto-rickshaws are common. The nearest railway station or town is often a few kilometers away. Social Life Life moves slower but with strong social bonds. Villagers gather in the chaupal (common sitting area) to discuss news, politics, and farming. The panchayat (village council) handles disputes and local governance. Marriages and ceremonies are big events with days of celebration and feasting. Challenges Problems include unemployment, poor healthcare, limited schools, and migration. Some villages still face flooding (in North Bihar) or drought (in South Bihar). Women’s empowerment and sanitation are improving but remain challenges in remote areas. bihar village life, most dangerous State in india, dangerous bihar village life, bihar village lifestyle, barsoi village in bihar, north india village life, north india village vlog, why bihar is so dangerous, bihar lifestyle, bihari people, village life in bihar, village girl in bihar, village food in bihar, village cooking in bihar, unseen bihar village lifestyle, unexplored bihar village, barsoi village life in bihar, undeveloped states in india, low literacy state in india, weak infrastructure state in india
