028 VLOG Moving On: How I Save Time and Stay On Budget Moving Solo In The Big City

So this is my very late, mini solo moving vlog. Spring 2024 I moved out of my first apartment in Philly and into another neighborhood (but yes, I’m still in Philly). Hello. 🥸 My name is Sarah and I’ve moved between multiple states and cities. As a proclaimed expert, I’m here to share a few budget and time saving changes I made to my process. These updates really helped make the process seamless for this move. Every move is different: timeline, restrictions and miscellaneous to-dos (like cleaning my apartment from TOP to BOTTOM before making my exit). I start packing EARLY. Usually the items I think about last, pack first: the stuff under the sinks, at the top of the closets, things for guests. Pulling items I don’t use very often and working my way to the most used items. PACK EVERYTHING. Especially things with hard-to-pack shapes. Lamp shades, tape up anything with a cord, hangers, I hired a mover for the move-out and having every single thing packed (including dry goods) made the move much faster. Pro tip: If you have safety concerns, hire help. And keep the original boxes for items with weird shapes. (I kept the box my scooter came in.) Makes it much easier to stack with standard moving boxes. And I’m sharing this because yes you can move by yourself, yes it will be nerve wracking, but yes you can DO IT.
