I guess it shouldn’t surprise me thou since our house is filled with fishing gear and the walls in our home have images of family fishing adventures. When my youngest begin tagging along on my fishing adventures I wanted to make sure he had fun. Kids can get easily distracted or disappointed pretty quick. So skipping rocks, searching for crayfish or chasing minnows was always part of our outings. Sure he would be wielding a fly rod in hand and even a sling pack to carry his own box of flies, but I never pushed him to be anything but a kid. I wanted him to enjoy himself and if he became passionate about wanting to learn more I was happy to fill in the blanks. On this day I felt it was time to begin sharing more with my Son and to guide him through what Dad would do on a typical day on the water. I shared best practices and how to read the water, where fish can hide and how to approach. We had an amazing day on the water, I put my son on fish and at the end of the day he found a small little spot on his own where he was able to catch quite a few green sunfish and bluegill he was so very excited about our Father and Son fly fishing adventure.
