COLOMBIA | 4x4 TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | THE ONLY RISK IS...

Colombia is a country with a long and harsh history. For most of us who were brought up in the western world, our general exposure was from the countless movies and TV shows about Pablo Escobar and the famous Colombian Cartels and a historic battle on cocaine and the drug trade in general. While these issues still exist to a degree, the Colombia we saw would be a completely different one compared to the stereotypes from back home. Today, Colombia is a very different country. Over the years they have made great efforts to optimize safety and create a positive and pleasant atmosphere for travelers. For this reason, the government's travel authority, known as "Colombia Travel", coined the motto that "The only risk is wanting to stay". Something we found extremely true for many of the people who came to this country and instantly fell in love with it. For our 4x4 overland adventure, Colombia would also be the gateway to the rest of South America. Over nearly 3 months here, we would find great coffee, and more importantly, great people. The welcome we got far exceeded almost anywhere else we've been, immediately making this one of our all-time favourite destinations. We would also finally have the opportunity to travel with another vehicle during the southern portion of Colombia, a well know truck with two awesome people in it ‪@ToyotaWorldRunners‬ . I would honestly again like to thank everyone who made our time in Colombia so great, and so enjoyable. Thanks to Juan for helping us out in Bogota, and thanks to the lovely people we met who took us in and taught us about their home. Due to the data loss we suffered and missing massive chunks of footage between our entry into the country and Medellin, I honestly wasn't sure this video would be possible. Luckily a few things were backed up and my laziness paid off, because I hadn't cleared all the footage off the SD cards at that point. Pardon the last 1/4 of the voice over!
