A story of transformation. How to finish the 275 km Legends Trail? I found out the hard way. Trailrunning through the Belgian Ardennes has never been so much type 2 fun. When I first watched the footage from this year's Legends Trail, I was almost in tears. Since I wasn't focussing on making the film I used the wrong settings. First of all the cinematic linear view instead of 'sportmode' with a wider angle, so many clips are not framed properly and I missed the target. Even worse, I had not turned on the stabiliser, which elimites the shaking while moving with the camera, so all the images were unstable... And last, I was filming in 2,7K instead of the sharp 4K. You can see the difference between shots from '24 and '25. I thought I messed up so bad I could not make a video of this. Then it occured to me. Legends Trail is not sharp, it is mostly blurry, when we can't see properly, when everything is vague. It is dark, both the world and often the head. The mistakes I made with the camera actually gave a much more realistic view. Something I could not have done on purpose. It forced me to work more with feelings, creating an atmosphere of what had happened. Not hairsharp realism, but a kind of surrealistic view of how it is to walk endless dark roads. I hope you enjoy.
