India Yamaha Motor has updated its portfolio with the launch of the new YZF-R15S V3.0 in our market. This new variant of the motorcycle uses a single-piece step-up seat instead of the split-style unit on the YZF-R15 V4.0. The motorcycle is available in a single paint option – Racing Blue. Yamaha says that while the YZF-R15 V4.0 is being appreciated by customers across India, the company’s research has shown that the buyers want a more viable option to commute with a pillion, without having to compromise on the Racing DNA of the YZF-R15. The mechanical specifications retain the 155cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve engine Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) setup. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor delivers 18.34bhp of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. The feature list is similar to the YZF-R15 V4.0, although this variant misses a traction control system and a quick-shifter. The feature list on the YZF-R15S V3.0 includes a multi-function LCD instrument cluster with a gear-shift indicator, dual-channel ABS, assist and slipper clutch, and a side stand indicator with engine cut-off function. The hardware continues to use a Deltabox frame and an aluminium swingarm. The suspension tasks are handled by telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock. The styling elements include full-fairing, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, clip-on handlebar, split-style seat, side-slung exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. The 2023 YZF-R15M is listed in a single paint option – Metallic Grey. This paint option features a dual-tone finish and comes with a blue colour for the alloy wheels. 2023 Yamaha YZF-R15M: Hardware Similar to the design, the hardware is retained from the previous version. The motorcycle is built around a deltabox frame and uses 37mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension duties. The anchoring setup comprises a 282mm single disc at the front and a 220mm single rotor at the back, while the safety net includes a dual-channel ABS and traction control system. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod in 100/80-section front and 140/70-section rear tyres. Further, the rear wheel uses a radial-type tyre. The motorcycle features an 11-litre fuel tank and tips the weighing scale at 141 kg (kerb). 2023 Yamaha YZF-R15M: Price and Rivals The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R15M has been priced at Rs 1,93,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it nearly Rs 12,000 more expensive than the standard variant.
