Have a look at the X-Ray and swipe left for the explanation DENSE HILUM 👨🏽💻Another tricky X-Ray! The key here is to remember to always compare to a previous film if you have it. There are certain areas I find really important to compare in particular: ▫️Lung apices for a mass ▫️Hilar regions for increase in density or new lumps and bumps ▫️Mediastinal position in cases of pleural effusion or pneumothorax 👨🏽💻A dense hilum can be the only sign of cancer on an X-Ray! Making that call on the first X-Ray alone here is a tricky call but when you compare to the old X-Ray you can now be more sure there is an abnormality. There are many cancers I have picked up by seeing an increase in density related to the hilum when compared to the previous film! 👨🏽💻If you are lucky enough to have a lateral projection to look at that can help also, although in some places such as the UK lateral films aren’t routinely done ▫️Remember to compare the hilar regions to the previous film! 🔻@theradiologistpage ——— ☑️Patient consent obtained #theradiologist #radiology #radiologist #physician #physicianassistant #medicine #medstudent #medicalstudent #medschool #medicalschool #radtech #whitecoat #mri #xray #medical #radiography #radiologystudent #doctor #medicalstudents #interventionalradiology #chestxray #surgeon #medic #frcr #anatomy #usmle #medlife #exams #premed
