PsySSA 2022 Webinar Series - Webinar 1 - Pan-Africanism and Psychology in Decolonial Times

This webinar celebrates the publication of the book ‘Pan-Africanism and Psychology in Decolonial Times, authored by Shose Kessi, Floretta Boonzaier and Babette Geleker, published by Palgrave Macmillan. The book is published as part of the Pan-African Psychologies Series, edited by Chalmer Thompson and Guerda Nicolas. This book explores the potential of Pan-African thought in contributing to advancing psychological research, theory and practice to counter the hegemony of Euro/American mainstream psychology and its reinforcement of a western paradigm. It contextualises and critiques psychological theories and practices from a Pan-African perspective, offering the possibilities of a psychology focus on liberation, resistance and restorative justice. Authors will be in conversation with Dr Ismahan Diop around the possibilities of a Pan-African psychology.
