Overall, the general program lets you loan out stocks that you already own to make extra monthly income. Not all stocks are candidates for this program in my opinion. The stocks best suited for this are probably more speculative plays like Tesla or stocks that are getting hit with short interest due to certain fundamentals changes or economic changes to the stock. You want to make sure that the broker is SIPC and FDIC insured. This is a big deal in the U.S.A. Not sure about other countries. The biggest issue with this program is the fact that your qualified dividends won't count as qualified dividends. In fact, they will count as income on a 1099-MISC IRS form. So, you won't pay 15% tax. You will likely end up paying ordinary rate. I like this program, it just doesn't seem like it's a good fit for a long term dividend portfolio. Most of the stocks in a dividend portfolio are pretty stable to begin with. I'd check with your broker and see if they have a program like this where you will avoid the ex-dividend dates. Try it out and see if you can generate some extra monthly income using the program. See if it works on dividend stocks or if if works better on growth stocks more.
