Escambron Beach is located in Puerta de Tierra within walking distance from Old San Juan and Condado. Escambron is the best public beach in San Juan / Metro area. In my view, Escambron is the most picturesque beach in San Juan. Protected by a coral reef and landscaped with tall palm trees, Escambron invites you to enjoy its crystal clear waters. I was here for a walk and snorkeling. It is perfectly safe for swimming. A small portion of the beach is blocked by big rocks so no rough waves make it perfect for swimming and having a good time. Tips: showers-bathroom-parking - everything is there. As the whole San Juan is protected by fortified walls - you can see that here as well. One thing struck me is that there were no food or soft drink options. I did not find any food truck or anything sort of that. So make sure to bring your own snacks and water with you. The public bathroom on the beach was closed/locked on a Tuesday when I was there - very inconvenient. So you will have to be creative to answer nature's call on the beach.
