The single is a dedication to all who have suffered during the long lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This soulful church hymn Uyingcwele is a result of a collaborative effort between producers Mxolisi Lokwe aka MXO, Ndixolele “Sliq Angel” Mbali, Kunle Ayo, Mark Watson and ShakaJamal, Chief Creator of USA-based Olu8 Records. Uyingcwele’s soothing sound gives hope amidst the pandemic sorrow and recent socio-political unrest. Sliq Angel, one half of ROOTS2000, said they wanted to bring a new interpretation to a commonly sung church hymn so as “...to reach as many South Africans as possible as they struggled to make it through this coronavirus lockdown and just give them hope that we will get through this together. Now that we have had the uprisings in KZN and Jozi, it makes Uyingcwele even more relevant.”
