Welcome to Episode 2 of our Straight Line Mission – a challenge to traverse New Zealand's north island coast to coast, in a perfectly straight line. In this episode, we wake up from our first sleep on the line - and it was a rough one. In front of us today, lies the Wairoa river, which is 450 meters wide, and unfortunately for us, flanked on both sides by hundreds of meters of cutty grass. Following this, we have a handful of streams and creeks to get over (or through), before a 7 kilometer hike through farmland to get to our camping spot for the night.
