The train was a transfer of railway stock after successful shuttles between Wagga Wagga, Uranquinty and Bomen. 6029 is currently the largest steam locomotive in the Southern Hemisphere. The AD60 class were Beyer-Garratt patent articulated four-cylinder, simple, non-condensing, coal-fired superheated, 4-8-4+4-8-4 heavy goods steam locomotives built by Beyer, Peacock and Company for the New South Wales Government Railways in Australia. 6029 has only recently been returned back to service after being out of service since the 1980s.
