In partnership with ReNew, one of India's leading renewable energy companies, the Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University SIPA proposes the 2025 edition of the Columbia India Energy Dialogue in New Delhi. The theme of this year's edition is "Friendships among Fragmentation," a timely focus on the role of foreign policy in India’s ongoing energy transition. Recent changes in US presidential administration and policies have accelerated ongoing global fragmentation along security, investment, trade lines. Global energy markets and the transition are not immune to this fragmentation. For India’s successful transition to clean energy, the country must grow and develop in not only an emissions-constrained world but in one where geopolitical relationships govern the flow of finance and technology. Amid this uncertainty, CGEP aims to bring together a public ministerial-level keynote address and panel discussion, followed by a private roundtable to focus on how India will navigate the geopolitical fragmentation upending the global energy transition, and its impact on the country's transition to low and zero carbon sources of energy. The discussions explore how the country can think about its transition along strategic terms to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy in a less integrated global environment.
