Discover the new era of speed with the Swix World Cup series. In this video, you’ll learn how to apply the black powders — PF100 and PM molybdenum — designed for the toughest, dirtiest and most abrasive snow conditions. 1. Apply an Even Layer of Powder Spread a smooth, even layer across the entire glide zone. A precise start gives you a cleaner, faster finish. 2. Melt the Powder Correctly Heat your iron to the recommended temperature printed on the label. Melt the powder using long, controlled strokes — ideally one side of the groove at a time. Let the base cool completely before scraping. 3. Scrape the Base Clean Start with a groove scraper to clear the center channel. Then use a sharp Swix plexi scraper to remove excess wax from the full base. 4. Roto Fleece – Activate the Powder Use a roto fleece to activate and maximize the performance of the black powders. Apply gentle, even pressure and work back and forth along the ski to smooth out any irregularities. Tip: Keep a dedicated fleece for black powders to avoid contamination. 5. Steel Brush – Deep Structure Cleaning Brush with steel to clean and open the structure. If using a roto brush, make sure it rotates in the ski’s glide direction. A hand brush also works — always brush from tip to tail. 6. Natural Fiber Brush – Structure Refinement Move on to a natural fiber brush. In this video, we use two 70 mm brushes on a 140 mm roto handle for consistent pressure and coverage. 7. Nylon Brush – Final Polish Finish with a nylon brush to polish the base to a clean, race-ready surface. This final step brings out the true speed potential of the black World Cup powders.
