Vintage Saab Two Stroke Gold Rod issues

This is a video I made in February 2018 but I out of respect for my friend David B, I decided not to post it in 2018. Since a lot of these gold colored rods are still floating around and causing issues. I think it’s important to put this information out now. I appreciate everything Davis did to help Keep the old Saabs running but since David’s passing, I think it’s important to point out some of the issues that were going on. And these are not new issues and David was aware of them also. we had many conversations about everything, but as I’ve said before, we were competitors, but we didn’t really compete and David was instrumental and helping me become a better crankshaft rebuilder That said this information should get out there and people can make their own choice Since the making of this video some six + years ago we have seen crankshafts that have been rebuilt with the gold colored rods that have died within 200 to 800 miles. at the time the video was made we weren’t sure of the life of some of this stuff and now that things have been in service a bit longer. We’re starting to see the effects of the inferior parts. Remember a lot of restoration projects to get done so you might have a crankshaft rebuilt 10 years ago that’s never been installed.
