I started my ride from J&P Creekside Campground near Punta Gorda and headed north. The original plan was to ride to Hardee Lakes Campground — about a 60-mile day. But with a strong tailwind, I was flying through Hardee County and making much better time than expected. I reached Hardee Lakes far earlier than planned, so instead of stopping, I decided to keep going. The tailwind stayed with me as I crossed into Polk County, turning what was supposed to be a shorter day into a long but incredibly smooth ride. I finished the day in Lakeland and caught the train a day earlier than planned — one of those bike touring days where everything just lines up perfectly.
