The device is made with an HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor that is controlled by a Wemos D1 Mini board. The sensor measures the distance from the lid of the tank, to the actual level and it then maps this number to a percentage indicating how full the tank is. The device operates under Home Assistant to be able to display a nice graph gauge of the history and also notify me when the level gets too low.
