Fatal Crash into Christina River, Wilmington, DE - September 9, 2017

This is scene video following the crash of a pickup truck into a fence along the Wilmington Riverwalk, landing in the Christina River. The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM, when according to witness accounts the driver of the truck appeared to deliberately drive over a grassy area, then crashed into the fence and landed in the river. Several civilians attempted to rescue the driver and sole occupant, but were unable to reach him before the truck became submerged. Fire and police units converged on the scene and were joined by underwater divers in an attempt to rescue the driver. After about an hour, the driver was removed from the truck and pronounced at the scene by New Castle County paramedics. Despite there being hundreds of bystanders in the area, no one other than the driver was injured.
