Converting my Epiphone into a copy of Tony Iommi's "Monkey" SG (part 1)

BLACK SABBATH TONE ! This video documents my progress modding a standard 2020 Epiphone SG special P-90 Edition, into a copy (or as close as I can get it) of Tony Iommi's "Monkey" SG, one of Tony Iommi's most iconic guitars used heavily on the first few Black Sabbath Albums! In fact, I'd argue that in some ways I get even closer to Tony's original guitar than the overpriced recreations by Gibson put out recently... In this part I describe in detail the differences between Tony's "Monkey" guitar and a standard Gibson/Epiphone SG Special. I then show my process of chancing out the bridge and tuners, and replacing the standard P-90 pickups for JayDee custom "Monkey" pickups, designed as recreations of those used in Tony's Guitar. At 55:32 I play a demo of what the modified guitar sounds like. In the second part I'll be finishing off the pick guard, and adding a zero fret to complete the project. Enjoy !
